Ireland head coach Andy Farrell is expecting to have to plan without the Ireland flanker for Sunday's visit of France in the Six Nations.
Peter O'Mahony's disciplinary hearing will take place this afternoon via video conference.
He was red carded in the Six Nations defeat to Wales in Cardiff on Sunday.
The Munster man been cited for dangerous play after he caught Wales prop, Tomas Francis, in the face with his shoulder, while trying a clear-out at a ruck.
O'Mahony could face a ban of between two and six weeks if found guilty.
