Rafa Nadal is out of the US Open in New York.

The 22 time Grand Slam champion was beaten in 4 sets in the last 16 by American Frances Tiafoe 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

"Something special happened today," said Tiafoe after the match.

"I don't know what to say, I'm so happy. He's one of the greatest of all time and I played unbelievable.

"I felt like the world stopped. I couldn’t hear anything for a minute. Even shaking Nadal’s hand, I don’t even know what I said to him. It was such a blur. I was already tearing. I could barely see him and my team.”

The defeat ended the Nadal's bid for a record-extending 23rd major singles title.
