Lionel Messi will leave Barcelona this summer.
The club say that although they reached an agreement with the Argentine forward for a new contract, the deal cannot go ahead because of financial and structural restrictions.
Messi has won 10 league titles and four Champions Leagues with the Catalan side - and has been named world player of the year six times.
