Masterson lands contract extension with QPR

All Sport

The Dubliner has penned an extension to his current deal on his 22nd birthday.

Ireland under-21 international Conor Masterson has been given a contract extension by Queens Park Rangers.

The Dubliner moved to Loftus Road a year ago and initially signed a two-year deal after he was let go by Liverpool.

He made 13 appearances last season and scored one goal.

The extension ties him to the English Championship club until at least 2023.

Masterson, who turns 22 today, said:

"This is a nice birthday present and I'm buzzing.

"I have enjoyed every moment at QPR, the opportunities I have had and I am grateful to be able to sign a new deal."

Masterson spent four years at Anfield but says moving to Rangers was the right decision.

"At Liverpool I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot, but I needed to play first-team football and QPR gave me that opportunity," he added.
