Goals from Luis Dias, a header, and Mo Salah, a penalty, in either half saw the Reds home, and condemned the Seagulls to a fifth straight defeat in the top flight.
Ireland internationals Shane Duffy and Caoimhín Kelleher were un-used subs.
City are set to take on Crystal Palace on Monday evening.
