Ireland 7-51 England

An incredibly difficult night for Adam Griggs side as they suffer a heavy defeat at Energia Park in round one of the Six Nations.

The Irish head coach spoke in the build up to the game, how much of a challenge it was going to be against a side who were only recently awarded full time contracts.

It was clear from as early as five minutes that it was going to be a long night for those in green, Jess Breach scoring the first points.

England would have a second half way through the half from full back Sarah McKenna, they went into the break with a 13-0 lead.

It got worse after the re-start, England quickly taking their bonus point, with try’s from Sarah Berne and Lark Davies.

On the hour mark, something finally clicked for Ireland, they had England under pressure and after 3 scrum penalties, the referee awarded Ireland 7 under the posts, a consolation score at last!

Though it was a wake up call for the English as Zoe Harrison, Emily Scott and Bryony Cleall would round off the evenings work
