We're in for some wet and windy weather over the next couple of days.

Storm Gerrit is due to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the entire country tonight.

Met Éireann has a status yellow weather warning in place for wind and rain for the nation from 8pm to midnight on Wednesday.

The heavy showers are set to continue into tomorrow and may lead to localised flooding.

The warning coincides with spring tides which means the rainfall may also lead to coastal flooding.

An orange rainfall warning has been issued for Kerry and West Cork with heavy rain tonight and intense heavy showers forecast for tomorrow.
