Revenue officers have seized 9 million cigarettes at Dublin Port.
A mobile x-ray scanner and detector dog Waffle assisted in the operation.
The haul's valued at just under 7 million euros.
A Revenue statement said the consignment of illegal cigarettes branded ‘Lambert & Butler’ had an estimated retail value of €6.8 million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €5.3 million.
Investigations are ongoing.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products.
