A couple is celebrating after welcoming triplets into the world on New Years day.
The three, healthy baby boys were born in the Rotunda shortly before midday.
A total of 24 babies were delivered there yesterday.
Master of the hospital, Fergal Malone, says the chances of a birth like this are one in a million;
"Triplets, but unusually spontaneous triplets and spontaneous, identical triplets which really makes these very much a one in a million pregnancy
"The vast majority of triplet pregnancies that we see today are the result of fertility therapy
"So it's quite exceptional for someone to spontaneously conceive triplets", he explained.
