Gardaí and emergency services responded to calls of a swimmer in distress around 4pm yesterday afternoon.
Units were dispatched to the beach near Dalkey, where a man in his 20s was recovered from the water.
He was brought to Beaumont Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
