The Army Bomb Disposal squad made safe a device in Rush earlier this morning
A cordon was established in the surrounding area and a number of houses were evacuated for safety reasons.
The team arrived on scene just after half nine this morning and the area declared safe at 11.30.
The device was removed to a secure military location for further examination.
