St Patrick's Institution will officially close today.
The Tánaiste and Justice Minister Francis Fitzgerald announced that the penal facility on the North Circular Road would shut up shop last week.
All 17 year olds who are now committed by the Courts will be sent to Oberstown Detention Centre in Lusk instead.
