Southside restaurant makes unique adaptation for Level 5

A restaurant on the southside has made a unique change, to deal with Level 5 restrictions.

Michael’s in Mount Merrion is turning its outdoor terrace into an organic shop and market to sell local produce.

Owner Gareth Smith says they’ve had to find a way to keep adapting:

"We managed to get six farmers in there straight away this weekend just to find a home for all of the fruit and veg that was destined for restaurants that there was no market for it there anymore.

"To be honest, I'm kind of enjoying it because any time that I've been to Europe I've always seen these little farmers markets and wished that we had one close to home.

"So now we do!"
