The incident happened in town yesterday afternoon.
A man in his 40s is appearing in court this morning, charged in connection with an assault on the Northside.
It happened on Marlborough Street at around 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
The injured man was brought to the Mater Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
In a statement, a garda spokesperson said:
"Gardaí investigating an assault which occurred on Marlborough Street in Dublin 1 on Monday, 12th August 2024 have charged a man (40s).
"He is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin this morning, Tuesday, 13th August 2024."
