Gardaí discovered a man in possession of a rifle overnight.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, Gardaí responded to reports of a disturbance in Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
Upon arrival, they found a man in possession of a rifle.
The man approached the Gardaí before he discarded the weapon over the wall and left scene by foot.
The 20-year-old man was arrested a short distance away and the firearm was taken by Gardaí.
The man is currently being detained in a Garda Station in South Dublin.
