An extra 100 people a night were housed by the Salvation Army in Dublin last year.

The charity provided shelter to 125 families in 2021 - according to its latest annual report - and gave out 38 thousand meals at its three family hubs in Harold's Cross, Coolock and Crumlin.

Several newborn babies were among those supported by the charity, while the eldest person was 71.

It comes amid fears about the welfare of people sleeping on the streets during the current cold snap.
