Dublin Port staying open during crisis

All Q102 News

Dublin Port is staying open for business, throughout the coronavirus emergency.

The government is taking steps to make sure supply chains are kept open, and ports can keep operating.

Spokesperson Liz Canavan gives this update on contingency plans for the shipping industry:

"A number of temporary contingency measures have been put in place, to provide flexibility in maritime transport and allow the sector to continue to work as normal as possible at this time.

"These include an extension to the seafarer documents and an extension to ship certificates.

"This will ensure that shipping services will continue and Irish ports are open for business.

"It's vitally important to ensure the supply of essential goods."
