All Q102 News

1.36 million euro worth of herbal cannabis has been seized at Dublin Port.

The discovery was made on Tuesday during routine operations, and involved Revenue's mobile x-ray scanner, as well as the assistance of Detector Dog Meg.

68 kilos of the drug were found hidden in a consignment of goods which had arrived into Dublin Port from Spain.

Meanwhile, 12,000 unstamped cigarettes were found yesterday in Dundalk with the help of Detector Dog Bill.

The illegal tobacco products, which were branded 'Excellence' and 'NZ', were found during the search of two residential properties. The discovery has a retail value of over 8,000 euro, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of 6,500 euro. A woman in her twenties and a man in his forties were questioned.

The seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs and the sale and supply of cigarettes and tobacco products in the shadow economy.
