Students are busy setting up their projects at this year's BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
The RDS event opens to the public on Thursday, with €7,500 in prize money up for grabs.
550 projects were entered this year, and 60% of the students are female.
The event will see over 50,000 visitors.
