An elderly man has died after a house fire in North Strand last night.
The blaze broke out in a cottage on Hiberian Avenue shortly before 9pm.
The 78 year old was rushed to the Mater where he was later pronounced dead.
Crews from North Strand and HQ fought a fire in a house off Ossary Road after 9pm yesterday evening. Despite best efforts of Firefighter/Paramedics including advanced life support on scene the man (70s) died in hospital. A number of fire crews from Dublin Fire Brigade battled the blaze.
Gardai sealed off the property last night so that a forensic investigation can be carried out to find out what caused of the fire.
