Changes made to checkpoints on two major roads

As part of Operation Fanacht, 132 Garda checkpoints were set up across the country yesterday.

Changes have been made to Garda checkpoints in Dublin and Kildare following long tailbacks yesterday.

Commuters were frustrated over being stuck in traffic with some tailbacks stretching back more than 8 kilometres.

Since 7am this morning Gardaí have introduced a new traffic layout at Junction 6 on the N7 and Junction 2 on the M2.

This morning alterations have been introduced to two specific designated checkpoints on the N7 (Junction 6) and M2 (Junction 2) only.

There will be a dedicated lane for trucks and lorries to minimise delay or disruption.

Motorists are asked to follow signage and slow down approaching the checkpoints.
