Changes to kids GP care

The government could be set to introduce nominal charges and appointment caps for children aged between 6 and 12 entitled to free GP care.

The Sunday Independent reports a 5 euro charge and a cap of four appointments a year could be looked at as a way to deal with concerns from doctors, who say the current provision for under sixes is clogging their waiting rooms.

The Programme for Government contains a commitment to introduce free GP care for under 18s by the end of the current Dáil term.
